Hello. I am Fahmi.
Who’s the reader?
I write this for myself. This is my first article written in English. So, this medium is a way for me to be fluent in daily English communication.
Second, it’s for my future self. It would be best to read this to reflect every decision or path you make. These notes will help you re-evaluate and remind yourself where you came from.
Last, this is for everybody out there. You will better understand me, primarily what drives me, for why I like this. I don’t expect you to get inspired by the words that I write. Just keep in mind that, maybe, what you understand after reading my story both need to be appreciated due to your effort to think and need to be forgotten if it brings you to a negative perspective.
This is my background.
I am from Yogyakarta. But actually, I was born in Bontang on April. I am an Aries. I am alson an ENTP. You can also get to know me by searching “Wuku Kuru Welut” if you are interested in “Weton.” I am aware that they are all pseudoscience.
Bontang is a small city surrounded by forests and located near the ocean. We have a lot of natural resources like natural gas, oil, and coal. It also has beautiful scenes like beaches. People here come from many regions with many diversity. Compared to Java education, especially Yogyakarta, it is more fall behind.
I came from a middle-income family. My father worked as a nurse at LNG Company. He got his retirement in 2017. My mother is working at home and raising their children. I am the youngest child of three children. We all have different interests. My older brother is a physics engineer. My sister is a design interior consultant. I have an interest in economics and business.
Educational Background
I studied at school established by company’s foundation from pre-school until junior high school. After that, I moved to Yogyakarta and studied at SMAN 1 Yogyakarta. I am currently a 6th-semester Management Undergraduate Student at Universitas Gadjah Mada.
I don’t have any outstanding academic achievements yet. Statistically, approximately, I am only in (maybe) the top 10% of my friends. I am grateful, at least, for getting a final score above average. I have tried a lot of competitions in science, sports, arts since a kid. Some of that get a good result. Maybe, next time I will share my story about some of the unfair competitions I’ve been passed. Some contributed to what am I now.
Interest
One thing that I don’t want to be is a Jack of All Trade. Somehow, I have an interest in many topics. There was a period when I became an athlete, musician, and organization leader. This “gift” makes me underestimate that I can’t be special in one topic. Until one time, I found the complete sentence of this quote. It is “a jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.”
Goals
After 20 years of life, remembering all of the professions that I want to be, I think I have the potential to be an Entrepreneur. I am still in the process of finding the suitable industries I want to grow with. Maybe, my endgame could also be a lecturer. Or maybe, my goal is to enjoy the process.
I realized that it’s not about our profession. It is about what problems we want to solve. And, enjoying the process is a requirement to achieve the goal. What a life. Paradoxical.
